To romnation.net, emulators, click on the GBA, then save Visual Boy Advance for Mac and extract into a new folder called GBA.
To romulation.net (register for free) and then click on the Download Pokemon Red in the search box, click the network you Pokémon (normal or Red Fire) and select the server to download at least in North America (in Europe) and click Open.
Extract only the files with the [] and put it in the same directory as VBA. Open VBA and load the game. You can provide regular and Savestate (Shift + F1 to hold all-F9).
